Every day visits*
From Moose, Goose, and Orb Weaver
All seized by Haiku

"Why moose and goose?" you may ask. Back on 2/04/13 Pirate wrote a haiku with an elk in it, and I responded with
one with a moose and then included him every day. A few days later in comments Mystic asked "Where's the goose?"
So I started including her with this post on 2/07. A week later on the 14th, Mark Readfern
asked for and received a spider. The rest is history.

*Well, most days, anyway. Grant me a bit of poetic license.

Shadow Shot Sunday - Black Lake

.

A view of the south-west shore line of Black Lake, Cheboygan Co. MI, taken on April 7th, 2011.

The lake was still partly frozen.

This is a view to the east across the lake, from the same spot.

Oh, frigid water:
Will you be thawed and warm when
I come this Summer?

  1. Still frozen in April? Brr!

    I ALMOST LOST MY SHADOW

    I almost lost my shadow,
    I left it in the park;
    I heard my mommy calling,
    For it was getting dark;

    She has no use for shadows,
    She thinks they are quite grim,
    And when she saw my shadow,
    She thought it was a “him.”

    I had to educate her
    And tell her it was “she”—
    And now my faithful shadow
    Is welcome as can be!

  2. When I think of shadows it puts me in a trace,
    For shadows lurk beyond a great divide.

    And if I dream by moonlight, there might be a chance
    Mine will take me to the other side.

    Then one night it happened, with a strange discovery
    And the journey put me in a whirl.

    How could it ever happen that a big, strong boy like me
    Could have a shadow who is just a GIRL?

    Cheers!
